NASL Releases Spring Schedule

The NASL officially released the league’s spring half of the schedule this morning.

It’s a big day for soccer fans in Jacksonville as it means they get to find out when (and where) the Armada play their first competitive game.

The Armada have already officially announced the first ever game in franchise history. That game will be played on February 7th against the Philadelphia Union. The match, however, is just a friendly, and while it is a significant one, it has no bearing on the Armada season as a whole.

Today, we learned the good stuff.

The Armada’s first, official, competitive game will be April 4, 2015, at Everbank Field. It was always going to be awesome, but it will be even sweeter seeing the Armada officially kick off at home against FC Edmonton. FC Edmonton finished sixth in the overall NASL standings last season, and will be a good test for the Armada right out of the gate.

This match will be a treat for anybody involved with the Armada. It will be an excellent chance for Section 904 (The Armada’s supporters group) to show off what they can do. Players and coaches will be looking to start their first season off with a bang, and taking three points from last year’s sixth-placed team is a perfect way to make a statement.

Other highlights include visits to our in-state rivals, the Strikers and Rowdies, and hosting last year’s NASL Championship winners, the San Antonio Scorpions.
