Confirming reports that first surfaced about a week ago, and following a radio interview in which the player himself stated that he was on his way, Jacksonville Armada FC have announced that Marcos Flores has signed a contract with the club. Armada GM Dario Sala has been wrapping up the deal in Australia for the last several days.
It cannot be overstated just how big of an acquisition this is, both for the Armada and the NASL. Marcos is one of the best players in Australia’s A-League (He won their Player of the Year award in 2011), and has the talent to be a starter for most MLS clubs. So there is no doubt that he’ll be a star in Jacksonville. He has been a fan favorite at every stop, not only because of his massive talent, but also because he is very active in the communities he plays in.
Flores only made a handful of appearances with Newcastle Jets, partly because of injury rehab, but his recovery is over and he’ll be ready to go whenever he arrives.
Marcos is another stellar addition to an already excellent attack for the Armada. Jaime Castrillon, Jemal Johnson, Alhassane Keita, and Marcos Flores can all cause problems for defenses individually, and it follows that together, they will form a prolific attack.
Just watch this and get excited.
