A source has revealed that the Armada will play in a pre-season “tournament,” with Miami FC and two USL clubs, Tulsa and Charlotte, involved.
There weren’t a ton of details to share, but games will be played from March 2nd to March 5th, with the Armada playing a USL club on each date and Miami playing the other USL club on the day. The games will all be played at Patton Park, which means they will either be closed-door friendlies or there will be a pre-registration process in order to gain access.
My source also mentioned that the Armada might play Miami FC away on March 9th, although the details on that don’t seem to be finalized yet.
These matches do fit into an open chunk of the pre-season schedule, and would round off a fairly strong set of exhibitions. Already announced are friendlies against Orlando City and NYRB and matches against local D-1 NCAA schools UNF and JU, and the club has previously played (and beaten) the Philadelphia Union.
It’s all adding up to a solid start for Tony Meola’s boys, and the hope will be that the team will carry momentum from these matches into the regular season.
We will update as more information becomes available.
