US Soccer hosted the “draw” for the Fourth Round of the US Open Cup this morning, and the Armada have been drawn against Orlando. It’s not 100% a random draw because the governing body likes to force matchups based on regional travel (an effort to help any amateur teams that may advance this far) so a match against OCSC – the closest MLS club to Jacksonville- is not surprising.
The teams previously met in the 2016 pre-season. The Armada came away with a 2-1 victory in that match, but this will be the first competitive match between the clubs.
Orlando declined to apply to host, so the match will be in Jacksonville on June 15th.
Of course, this all depends on the Armada advancing past whoever their 3rd round opponent is, which could be a tough ask at the moment.
