The Armada are in Ottawa today, hoping to get that elusive first road win. While Ottawa may have made the championship game last season, the squad is quite different and nowhere near as strong. Not much will change in the table here as Ottawa sit just one point (5) ahead and one position (9th) above the Armada. Neither club will finish the day higher than 9th.
Jacksonville would do well to secure a draw, but a win isn’t out of reach. Ottawa have been playing well over the last several weeks, but they are coming off of a midweek 2-0 loss in the Canadian Championship. A draw would mean that the Armada have either scored or kept a clean sheet, and either of those would be a solid first step to righting the ship. Also we still get that Papa John’s discount with a draw.
It’s a solid lineup for the Boys in Blue today. Beto Navarro slots in for Mechak Jerome (International Duty) and Sandoval -Whose injury thankfully didn’t turn out as serious as it looked – gets the nod at CAM. Keita is starting over Matt Fondy, which is a solid play. Fondy really needed to have a sit down. Perhaps this will be the cure to his goalless problems.
Danny Barrow is the key player for the Fleet in the match. He started on the right wing against Miami and proved to be extremely creative and the Armada enjoyed their best attacking spell of the year. Today (and the coming weeks) is all about proving that Miami wasn’t just a one off and establishing himself as a true first-team player. Another great display of creativity and technical ability should help his cause.
Pascal Millien and Mechak Jerome are on International Duty with Haiti.
